Carnival at a Glance
Carnival at a Glance
* Carnival believes much of the reason for its broad appeal lies in the affordability of its cruises, its friendly crew, and the accessibility of the embarkation points—beyond the traditional home ports, Carnival also offers cruises from New Orleans, Charleston, Long Beach, and other ports. Itinerary offerings also include beyond-the-norm regions like Alaska, Canada, and Europe.
* Carnival delivers on its goal to create memorable vacations through affordable, high-quality cruise experiences. Steeped in the philosophy of fun, the line believes in bringing travelers together to celebrate life—a concept Carnival delivers through its festive, friendly onboard atmosphere.
* Boasting a number of firsts on many fronts, Carnival’s innovations include everything from the first 100,000+ ton cruise ship (the Carnival Destiny) to the first nonsmoking vessel (the Carnival Paradise). Carnival also has a long list of distinctions from TravelAge West, Fodor’s, Porthole Cruise Magazine, and other travel publications.

Onboard Atmosphere
Onboard Atmosphere Carnival’s recreation options span Broadway-style shows in the ship’s theater to live jazz trios and karaoke at the bars. Upbeat calypso music animates the pool and Water Works areas, while Carnival’s youth programs entertain younger passengers with games, shows, and excursions. And, just for decadence’s sake, Spa Carnival features salons and spa treatments (there’s a state-of-the-art fitness center, too).

Dining varieties onboard the Carnival ships include the traditional main dining room, the more casual Lido Buffet, the Bistro Café, or the for-fee Supper Club—offering prime cuts of beef or lobster in a Manhattan-style venue. 24-hour room service also beckons those whose hunger pangs may strike at any hour.

For stateroom amenities, Carnival offers passengers a home away from home with its Comfort Collection: hypoallergenic down duvets, high-thread-count cotton blend sheets, and eight-inch mattresses. Room layouts vary, but everything from luxurious, spacious suites to affordable inside staterooms suit any passenger’s budget.

Fellow Passengers
Fellow Passengers Travelers in search of an active, fun atmosphere make up the bulk of Carnival’s passenger base. In terms of age and income level, Carnival attracts a broad demographic. Most travelers hail from North America, and those with a fun-loving, social, and gregarious mentality find Carnival’s spirited ship atmosphere appealing. Value-conscious consumers also frequent the cruise line as Carnival boasts numerous home port choices and affordable rates for its sailings.

Explore the Ships
The Carnival fleet comprises eight vessel classes (the newest of which is the Dream Class) with more than 20 ships. The line, founded in 1972, invests heavily in enhancing its existing ships; currently, a $250-million refurbishment is underway for the Fantasy Class. Carnival also plans an aggressive schedule of new ship launches, with additional superliners regularly entering service and sailing to destinations throughout the world.
