The firestoves in the side reading rooms made the atmosphere cozy while the large viewing windows gave us the feeling that we were sitting outside with the sweeping views. Fireflies at nite off the garden room was magical. Staff Andrew and Javier were wonderful. The lodge was super close to Poas Volcano NP and an easy drive early in the morning and the staff worked with us to get breakfast to us quickly...

"The architecture was rustic mid-century modern and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. The firestoves in the side reading rooms made the atmosphere cozy while the large viewing windows gave us the feeling that we were sitting outside with the sweeping views. Fireflies at nite off the garden room was magical. Staff Andrew and Javier were wonderful. The lodge was super close to Poas Volcano NP and an easy drive early in the morning and the staff worked with us to get breakfast to us quickly that morning so we could make our 8am Poas reservation. Could improve: 1. We could not reach the lodge directly to ask questions and to make a reservation either through the website or through the phone number. We ended up going through Expedia. 2. The room (#4) was amazing but had a musty smell 3. The time from ordering dinner at the lodge to the time it was served was an hour. The food was really delicious (chicken with mushrooms and seabass with mango -- it was just a long wait. The lodge is unique and lovely and we highly recommend staying here. "
