Travel Guide
Cape Coral which includes signage
Enjoy one of southern Florida’s biggest cities, with a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful scenery. Stay in this idyllic place for tropical weather and plenty to do.

The vacation center of Southwest Florida, Cape Coral is a popular place to visit, particularly in winter. San Carlos Bay, part of the Gulf of Mexico, is never far away. When you walk along the waterfront you might think that everyone here owns a boat. Canals flowing through the city suggest watercraft are as important as cars for getting around. Spend time viewing boats and the creative names that are given to many.

Get an excellent introduction to the region’s native animals at Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. Find it on the Caloosahatchee River in the northern part of the city. Walk or boat through the preserve to view mangrove stands and marshes with abundant wildlife. Look for the burrowing owl, a favorite of bird-watchers, and stop at the free visitor center for more information.

Enjoy balmy nights with a stroll along Cape Coral Parkway to select one of the many restaurants for your evening meal. Find plenty of family activities at fun sites such as the Sun Splash Family Waterpark or Gator Mike’s Family Fun Park, with mini-golf, go-karts and much more.

Rent a bike to appreciate this designated bicycle-friendly community. The city’s more than 90 miles (140 kilometers) of bike trails take you past golf courses, parks, marinas and boats and yachts along the river.

Go out on the water with a boat tour that visits areas known to have dolphins and other wildlife. Let a trolley driver be your travel guide as you stop at popular nightspots and listen to live music on one of the provided tours.

The beautiful beaches in the Cape Coral area are always one of the main reasons for visiting. Fly by major airline into Southwest Florida International Airport in nearby Fort Myers or arrive by car via interstate or state highway.
