AIR CONDITIONING - The Central AC at Hale Kona Kai has been repaired and is fully functional as of 8/4/23.

HALE KONA KAI UNIT 212 SPECIAL FEATURES: This unit has uv film added to the living room window and sliding glass door. The film goes a long way to mitigate the heat stemming from the late afternoon direct sun into the unit.

Hale Kona Kai 212 has a large wraparound lanai that sits at the very edge of the water! This oceanfront property offers unobstructed views of the Kona coastline. Sit on your lanai and watch spinning dolphins year around and humpback breaching just offshore during the winter and spring months. Turtles and eels find plenty of sustenance in the tide pools. Wake up and fall asleep to the calming sound of the ocean.
This unit is beautifully updated. Featured amenities include central AC for those extra warm nights and high speed wifi, a necessity for "working" remotely where Zoom conference calls may be necessary.

Hale Kona Kai is an abslolute oceanfront condominium complex right on the ocean in the heart of Kona. It is a short walk to anything you need; restaurants, entertainment, shopping and beaches. An elevator provides easy access. The property boasts a heated salt water pool and BBQ area. Laundry rooms are available on each floor.

The island has many resort-quality golf courses, the closest one within 5 miles. There are plenty of places to snorkel from shore, or take a snorkeling cruise. Kona offers world-class fishing opportunities. Catch an ono for dinner or a world record Pacific Blue Marlin.

Vacation Perfection
Unit this is vacation perfection in every way. We immediately felt relaxed and at home because of the attention to detail in every room. We couldn’t have asked for anything more to enjoy our stay. Don’t let the slightly warn appearance of the property scare you away from this perfect unit with a wraparound lanai affording unbelievable views. The condo was exactly as shown, clean, roomy and a great getaway for two. We would recommend it to anyone looking g for a perfect home away from home.

Get ready for awesome!
My wife and I stay in Hawaii twice a year for the last 40 years. This unit is now at the top of our list. It is so close to the crashing waves that you feel the water. Tracy with Kona beach properties was just fabulous to deal with. Very professional and quick responses. We rented three units in this complex, one was from casa go. Never again from them. Everything was great. Our favorite place on the island. Perfect location for us and anyone that comes with us. It is good to see that the maintenance issues have been totally corrected. The air conditioner was set to cold and it was too cold so I set it warmer. Never thought I would say that.

When On-the-Rocks is a good thing
This condo is lovely. Amazing views, very comfortable bed, nice Hawaiian decor, even a beautiful cotton Hawaiian quilt. Portable air conditioning in living and bedrooms worked well even on very warm days. The front yard has waves crashing on the lava rocks below, tang feeding, surfers lining up for a wave, cruise ships, interesting life in the tide pools and local fishermen who are very nice and knowledgeable about the fish and tides. So many things to love about this condo. The parking spot is very close. We rarely used the elevator. There are laundry facilities on each floor. Thanks for being our home base for an amazing Anniversary trip to Hawaii. M & A

We had a perfect stay at this condo on the ocean. Description was accurate. A few steps to restaurants and Kona center, but off the main road so no street noise. Everything you need was available in the condo: kitchen supplies, beach items etc. We would gladly stay here again. Thank you!

Beautiful view, comfortable condo!
The condo is lovely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay! The views were incredible, and we loved watching the sunsets from the lanai while listening to the ocean. Check in was very smooth. Would definitely recommend staying here!!

Perfect location for walking into town without being in the heart of it. Appreciated that the bedroom door was closed with the air conditioning on when we arrived. It kept the bedroom at an ideal temperature for sleeping. The lanai was perfect for watching the sun set.

We absolutely loved this place, the view is amazing. We even saw some sea turtles from the balcony, it’s very spacious and clean. Super closer to many different restaurants, and the parking space is so convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

Awesome spot!
My wife and I had a great stay at this condo. Even with the central ac out the portable ac unit in our room was plenty to keep our room cool. The breeze from the lanai was incredible and also helped keep the condo cool. 5 min walk to great bars and restaurants. Amazing luau next door. Will stay here again!

Fabulous location! Right. On. Edge. Of. Ocean. Great for watching whales, turtles, and other sea life. Corner unit fantastic. Pool area never overly crowded. Plenty of pool furniture for everyone. 180 degree view of ocean. Can see outriggers, cruise ships, catamarans, swimmers, and spear fisherman right from lanai. Nice to have a one bedroom versus a studio. A couple of things we did notice is that the tile floors didn’t appear to be fully cleaned (perhaps were dusted rather than mopped) and there was a bit of soap build up on the bathroom counter. We would be highly recommend the property and this unit in particular.

Perfect in every way
Wonderful property. Perfect location. You're literally ON the shore. Falling asleep to the crashing waves is beyond soothing. Reserved parking spot is clutch. Unit and all towels/bedding were clean and ample in supply. The condo is simple and mostly updated. No complaints whatsoever. The welcome package with Kona coffee/water/snacks was a nice touch. To those that complained about the AC not working- it's running at 1000% now. Could run a meat locker with it now. LOL

The Lanai of My Dreams
We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend! Location is perfect, can walk to everything. The pictures of the lanai do not do it justice - it's truly amazing as you are right over the water with waves crashing on the rocks under you and views of the ocean in every direction! The rest of the place is as pictured, a little dated but clean. The bed is really comfy! The central air is working fine and was really nice to be able to run at night to good sleep since I was there to compete in the Ironman.

Perfect Location
This has been our favorite condo on the Big Island ! You can watch all of the ocean activities! It is close to town and the pool is amazing. I can’t give a 5 star rating simply becomes the air conditioner did not work, which was communicated to us so we didn’t know ahead of time. We will stay here again for sure !!

Beautiful view but lack of Functional A/C was a buzzkill
The good - the deck and view was gorgeous and one of the best we’ve had on any of our Hawaii trips. We preferred getting our food or making our own and eating out there to going to any restaurant because we just couldn’t tear ourselves away. You could literally see the fish in the water from there. Beautiful sunsets every night. Couldn’t be beat anywhere. The general layout of the rest of the condo worked ok. Small kitchen but ok. Well stocked with supplies. Closet with beach chairs, cooler etc was very appreciated. The bad: Air Conditioning (or rather lack there of). There’s really no excuse for why this isn’t fixed. I see in several reviews people talking about this issue and you would think it would have been resolved by now but nope. Despite signs in the unit talking about A/C - it’s non-functional. There is a portable unit jerry-rigged in the bedroom - but it sort of works (as long as you don’t mind the neighbors having a view into your bedroom from the upstairs unit) 8-O because you can’t close the shutter on one window with the A/C in the window. And yes there is a breeze from the ocean but if you run a little on the hot side (especially at night) - it might not be enough. Even with the Jerry-rigged A/C. :( While the view was great here - I would have to pass on this one and wouldn’t stay here again unless they get that fixed!! We ended up with so little sleep.

This condo has a double lanai that is almost directly over the shoreline. We could see the turtles and the fish in the water. The ocean is so close, and the sounds of the waves made the perfect backdrop. It was well stocked with everything we could possible need including cooler, umbrella and beach chairs.

Great location and view
Other than some communication challenges with Vrbo (not property manager) our stay was excellent. The condo has one of the best locations/views on the entire island. Great view of Honl's, one of the best surf spots in Kailua, just a few steps away. And no trees in front blocking our view! It's located a short walking distance to restaurants and shopping in Kailua. The condo comes equipped with all the necessary essentials and then some: kitchen accessories, abundance of towels (Bath and beach), beach accessories (boogie board, chairs, etc). Air-conditioning in bedroom kept the room comfortable, but the central air-conditioning for the rest of the condo was inoperable. However, two fans and breeze from the lanai kept a nice air-flow through the living area. The lanai was spacious including a table and four chairs, plus a taller bar table for two to enjoy beautiful sunsets. There is also one lounge chair for relaxing with a good book. My wife and I would definitely recommend this rental and we hope to return to it again some day soon.

My wife and I have spent many vacations in Hawaii, but this was our first stay on the Big Island. Condo #212 was the perfect location and an absolute delight with the wrap-around Lanai. It is a short walk to the restaurants along Ali'i Dr. on the Oneo Bay. We had our evening dinner on the Lanai since it was the best place to be for a great sunset evening. The Honl's beach is only a 1/4-mile to the south, and we watched the surfers from the Lanai. Snorkeling at this location was not for me since the seas were too intense, but I found plenty of other beaches to the north of Kona that had perfect conditions. With Polarized sunglasses, we watched turtles, fish, and a Manta Ray from our Lanai. Dolphins were flipping but too far out to enjoy. The property is not the most up-to-date, but it was relaxing and enjoyable. The kitchen was well equipped and far better than most VRBO kitchens. Snorkeling gear, beach chairs, umbrellas, and a small cooler were in the closet, which was a bonus. This vacation spot is on my return list with a passion.

We loved the condo. Right on the water. We enjoyed our morning and evening meals every day on the lanai watching the surfers, canoes, boats, wildlife and swimmers come and go. The unit had everything we needed and more. Plenty of cooking and eating utensils and some nice beach accessories as well. Beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear, etc. It was an easy 10-15 walk to downtown Kona to get to the restaurants, museums, farmer’s market , and sightseeing facilities. The central a/c was out for the whole condo facility but our host was kind enough to install a stand alone unit in the bedroom which kept it cool and the trade winds kept the rest of the unit comfortable. We had a marvelous stay and would back here again. Mahalo!
