"Amazing place, a peaceful location in a magical forest "

"I had a great experience. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. I walked almost everywhere, from the cloud forest to a coffee farm (Café La Bella Tica, highly recommended), to the downtown Santa Elena area. I like walking, so the location was fine for me (I averaged about 10.5 miles per day). They have one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. It starts with fresh fruit (banana, pineapple and guava), and then you have a choice of 4 options: a traditional Costa Rican breakfast, pancakes, toast and eggs, or huevos rancheros. I didn't have the toast, but everything else was exceptional. The restaurant was also very good. I highly recommend the grilled chicken with black pepper sauce or the grilled sea bass. The facilities are well-maintained and clean. While I was there, they were repainting the walls along the walkway and they tended to the grounds (bush and tree trimming, mowing, etc). They cleaned my room when I asked them to and avoided it when I asked them not to. I could not have had a better experience. I highly recommend the Trapp Family Lodge."

"The restaurant was excellent because they used fresh ingredients that they grew in a garden. Excellent free sit-down breakfast. All the food tasted amazing. The staff is super friendly and ready to help with anything (e.g. tours rearrangement, transport arrangements etc.) Super eco friendly too! Great location in the town. We would highly recommend this hotel. "

"We were greeted at the door by staff when we arrived and were given a welcome drink. The staff person allowed us to relax on the sofa as she took our check in information and explained highlights of the hotel. Our bags were quickly whisked away to a safe location until our room was ready. Even though we were early, we were given a room almost immediately. This hotel is just wonderful! The grounds are immaculate and very natural. There are several trails around the property to explore. It’s close to downtown and convenient to local attractions. The food at the restaurant is delicious and the staff is attentive. Monteverde Lodge and Gardens is quiet and serene. Each room faces some natural feature and ours even has a little stream bubbling in front! We highly recommend this place. "

"This is a simple and cute property in Monteverde, not far from the town (as long as you have a car). The staff is very friendly and helped us book all of our tours. The breakfast was also excellent. Our favorite part about the property were the animals we saw. Toucanets, hummingbirds, and lots of other small birds and mammals were roaming around - what a treat!"

"Was our favorite hotel on our trip through Costa Rica! Greeted warmly, help with luggage. Served refreshing drinks at check-in and tons of suggestions for tours and restaurants at front desk. Staff very eager to please and help in any way. Hiking trail on the property for morning walk. Breakfast included and it was fabulous! Happy hour and sunset views and wonderful appetizers. We loved the onsite dining! Each room has a figurine of a coati, they let you have as souvenir, also coffee and dried bananas. Extra touches make such a difference. Would definitely stay here again!"
