Seminyak is a paradise for beach-lovers and all accommodations in Central Seminyak are within easy reach of the sea. The beach here is one of the finest in Indonesia. Luxury hotels that sit almost on the sand include the W Bali, with its stunning series of pools cascading down towards the palms, and the Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort, which has some of the most impressive sunset views from its bar. Superb boutique hotels and villas can also be booked in areas such as Laksmana. Some of the best places to stay have private plunge pools yet are still just steps away from the beach.

In Seminyak itself, the neighborhood of Petitenget has the best accommodations close to cool bars, cafés, and beach clubs, which seamlessly transition from daytime hangouts to after-dark playgrounds. The party seriously gets started in the real heart of Legian, one of Bali's nightlife hubs, set between Seminyak and Kuta. More affordable than the former and more relaxed than the latter, Legian's hotels and resorts offer the best of both worlds -and there are plenty of international chains as well as more authentically Indonesian places to stay here. Book a room on Sunset Road, which continues south to the heart of Kuta, to be closer to the island's club capital.

Families will find plenty to do in Seminyak. Not only do surf schools offer lessons tailored to beginners, but Bali's most famous waterpark is just a few miles north. Many hotels in Central Seminyak are set up for little ones: kids' clubs, babysitting services, and children's pools are common. Those with older kids should also consider accommodations in livelier neighborhoods; some of Petitenget's beach clubs have family days on the weekend and its shops and boutiques will appeal to shopping-crazed teens. Villas are plentiful, for those in search of a little more seclusion.
