Panorama Hotel, funky little gem
Hotel is centrally located to the Monkey Forest and walking distance to Ubud's main commerce street (like running the gauntlet). This hotel is totally funky. More attention is paid to the immaculate grounds, but not to the rooms. Rooms are spacious, but all the small details are overlooked such as : shower curtain tattered, has mildew, bathroom mirror has a big corner crack. The euro-style shower nozzle tube not long enough, NO hot water, interior door handle comes off, bathroom fixtures loose, AC unit somewhat noisy, TV remote did not work at all, cable signal cut out in the middle of a movie. No internet service. The views are evocative, overlooking rice paddies, you can feel the charm of the place. I can overlook all other things, but NOT having any HOT water was a major turn-off. The price was very reasonable, more akin to a youth hostel that any pretense to an actual hotel. If you want cheap, funky, and lots of dilapidated charm, with OK service with a smile, this is the place.

OK hotel for the price
The hotel was very pretty, gardens, pool, etc. the rooms were just OK, but I think for the price, they were fine. The hotel is a bit "out" of the central area but they have free shuttle service. Ubud is quite overloaded with hotel options, so there is much to choose from, but the Panorama is as good as any. Because of the beautiful grounds, it's too bad they can't do better in the rooms, but their location would prohibit raising prices to accommodate that. I think they're doing the best they can. Yes. I would recommend them as a budget hotel.
